Guitar Hero Aerosmith is the first game in the Guitar Hero series to have one main band Aerosmith. Now I know what you are thinking. What makes this Guitar Hero so different? Well I’ll tell you.

The main difference in this Guitar Hero game is that Red Octane changed up the career mode. Instead of it being just a way to unlock other songs and characters, you actually get a story this time around. The way that they present the store is that before the set list that you have to play a little documentary clip starts to play. In this you get Aerosmith talking about the venue you will be playing at. The career takes you from Aerosmith’s beginnings, to through there break ups, and to the top of the charts.

The set list in this Guitar Hero has a good variety of Aerosmith songs. It has some of their older songs and newer songs; this game was made to please all kinds of Aerosmith fans. But playing through the set list for the first time might make you go huh??? The first two songs you play aren’t Aerosmith songs! The way that it is set up is that you play 2 opening songs then you bring on Aerosmith to do another three songs, one of them being the encore. Also some of the songs in the store, or Vault as they call it in this game, are songs by Joe Perry’s solo album.

This isn’t the Hardest Guitar Hero either. It’s probably the easiest. I consider myself a pretty good Guitar Hero player; I have beaten GH:2 on hard, and am almost done with GH:3 on hard(Raining Blood is a BITCH on hard). But I had no problems playing this game on hard. I think I might have three stared some of the songs but I got a lot of 5 stars, of and 5 GOLD stars on HARD difficulty. So you get the point.

As we all no good things come to an end and know I must point out the flaws! First off I would like to say there weren’t enough Aerosmith songs; actually there weren’t that many songs in general. There were only 41 and only 26 were Aerosmith. Also they used the same song twice. I mean there’s really no difference between “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith and “Walk This Way” feat. Run DMC. Oh and you know those Boss Battles from Guitar Hero 3, well there’s only one. And the multiplayer hasn’t changed much except that it finds games a lot quicker than in GH:3.

Know let’s talk about what this game could have been. Just image how much more fun this game would have been if the guys at Red Octane waited until after Guitar Hero: World Tour came out. Image if you and all your Aerosmith loving friends could play this game as a BAND. I mean it’s not called Guitar Hero: Joe Perry, it’s an AEROSMITH game. So If I want to be the drummer I’m very much said because I can’t play as Joey Kramer. Let’s say I want to sing; you can’t! And Aerosmith songs have such great lyrics why can’t I sing them! I think the game would have been more fun this way.

All and all I think Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a solid game. Even though the set list is short and easy, the songs are so good it balances out. The career mode is excellent now that there is a story behind it. I think this game is great for Aerosmith fans and you should defiantly go give this game a try today.
